Quality of Service (QoS)

Quality of Service (QoS) defines a network’s ability to manage traffic in a manner that makes sure that the performance of critical applications, particularly those that require real-time data, including voice calls, video streaming, and online gaming. QoS involves focusing on certain types of data, controlling bandwidth usage, reducing latency, minimizing jitter (variation in delay), and decreasing packet loss.

By implementing QoS, network administrators can allocate resources more efficiently, ensuring that high-priority traffic, such as video calls, receives the necessary speed and stability even when the network is congested. This is particularly important in enterprise networks, VoIP systems, and streaming services.
