Public Key

A public key is a cryptographic key used for encrypting and decrypting sensitive information. Public keys are pieces of information that scramble data, which can be unlocked by a specific algorithm designed to unlock it.

In simple terms, public keys are used to securely transfer data and crypto assets. For a cryptocurrency wallet, public keys serve as addresses to which other users can transfer cryptocurrency assets. After receiving the assets on the public key, they can be accessed using the private key and prove ownership.
