The word ‘immutable’ means that the data can not be altered by anyone once it is created. Immutability is the real strength of distributed ledger technology. All data and information shared on the blockchain are stored in blocks and validated by nodes.
The most significant benefit of blockchain technology is that the information shared is immutable, meaning it cannot be changed without altering it in all other blocks. Blockchains are made immutable by cryptographic hashing. The immutability of blockchains also helps maintain data integrity.
