We are now launching a dedicated institutional venue: a single-access platform that lets high-net-worth individuals, dealer desks, professional traders, large trading firms, and HFT shops execute across the exchanges and liquidity sources we connect to, all through one fast, deterministic, fully auditable system. We’re looking for a leader to take ownership of that platform from the ground up. You will set the technical direction, drive the performance and reliability engineering, design the risk and control layer, and grow the team that builds it. The goal is institutional-grade execution infrastructure measured against the standards set by venues like CME and Nasdaq: fast, predictable, resilient, traceable, and ready for regulatory scrutiny from day one.
The people who thrive in this role have spent their careers close to the matching layer, at exchanges, brokers, prime brokers, market makers, HFT firms, clearing houses, or large market infrastructure providers and are equally comfortable in an architecture review and a board-level conversation.
What You’ll Own
Platform direction
Shape the multi-year technical roadmap for the full execution path: client gateways, pre-trade controls, routing and matching, exchange connectivity, market data, post-trade processing, replay, and recovery.
Liquidity aggregation and routing
Build the layer that consolidates books and depth across connected venues and the routing logic that decides where and how each order works, splitting, sweeping, and selecting venues with awareness of price, fees, and latency, all within tight, predictable time budgets.
Venue connectivity
Stand up resilient, low-overhead links to multiple exchanges: unified symbology and order-state mapping, rate-limit and throttle handling, clean reconnection and failover, and a consolidated market-data feed across sources.
Client access
Design the interfaces our institutional and HFT clients trade through, FIX/FIXP/SBE, binary, and REST/WebSocket, tuned for deterministic order entry and friendly to co-located, latency-sensitive flow.
Latency and determinism
Drive tail-latency work end-to-end so that p99 and p99.9 hold steady even when markets are at their most violent.
Risk and protection
Architect the control layer that keeps both clients and the platform safe, including pre-trade validation, fat-finger and price-collar guards, self-trade prevention, throttling, position and margin limits, cancel-on-disconnect, kill switches, and emergency stops.
Audit and compliance readiness
Engineer deterministic replay, complete audit trails, sequence recovery, and disciplined production governance so the platform stands up to regulators across jurisdictions.
Standardization
Bring one coherent architecture and API contract across spot, margin, perpetuals, futures, options, unified accounts, portfolio margin, and institutional access.
Engineering rigor
Set the bar for performance work, benchmarking, packet-level tracing, replay-based validation, and a real production-certification process, and own architecture reviews, incident learnings, resilience testing, and capacity planning.
The team and the partners
Hire, mentor, and grow a strong engineering group across low-latency systems, distributed systems, market data, connectivity, and risk; and work shoulder-to-shoulder with product, compliance, security, risk, and regional regulatory teams.
What We’re Looking For
- 15+ years in trading or market-infrastructure technology, exchanges, HFT, market making, brokerage/DMA, clearing, liquidity aggregation, or similar.
- 5+ years leading senior engineers and/or owning the architecture of a mission-critical trading platform.
- A genuine grasp of how electronic markets work under the hood: matching and crossing, the full order lifecycle, market-data design, cross-venue consolidation, routing and best execution, trade capture and reconciliation, and recovery.
- Deep, hands-on command of C++ on Linux, plus networking, concurrency, lock-free design, memory and cache behavior, binary protocols, and tail-latency tuning.
- A track record of shipping systems that are resilient, observable, replayable, and auditable in regulated or institutional settings.
- The range to move between executive strategy and low-level technical detail, and the communication skills to carry both engineering and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Any of the following will stand out:
- Multi-venue connectivity, liquidity aggregation, smart order routing, or DMA / prime-brokerage platforms
- Matching engines, OMS/EMS, and post-trade or clearing systems
- FIX / FIXP / SBE / OUCH / ITCH and other binary market protocols
- Multicast market data and replay pipelines
- PTP / IEEE 1588 timing, DPDK, RDMA, and FPGA-aware designs
- Pre-trade risk and market-access control frameworks
- High-availability design and disaster recovery for trading systems
- Audit and trade-surveillance tooling
- Co-location / cross-connect setups and onboarding of latency-sensitive clients
