Senior Database Administrator

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support, manage and tune our database systems. The perfect candidate will have experience in PostgreSQL, SQL and MongoDB with a strong knowledge of RDBMS, database security, optimization and disaster recovery planning. This position will be a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and performance of our databases, as well as our security and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performance and availability of infrastructure
• Cloud services provisioning, optimization and security & billing control
• Provision and run a Kubernetes cluster based on business cases
• React to incidents in a timely manner and learn as you go
• Learn and utilize new technologies and contribute to the continuous improvement of system security, performance, availability and scalability
• Design, develop and maintain PostgreSQL, SQL and MongoDB databases.
• Create and manage RDS (Relational Database Service) instances and database solutions on cloud.

Performance Optimization & Monitoring:

• Monitoring the health, performance of databases and capacity planning.
• Fine-tune queries, indexing and database to make processes more efficient.
• Configure database monitoring tools to identify problems, and take corrective action.

Security & Compliance:

• Adhere to PostgreSQL/RDBMS security best practices.
• Control user roles, permissions, encryption and access controls.
• Audit your security frequently to protect the sensitive data.

Disaster Recovery & Backup:

• Work to establish and maintain backup/recovery plans for data availability.
• Develop and test business continuity disaster recovery procedures.

Database Development & Support:

• Help with schema design, index management and data migration.
• Assist development teams with database tuning and query optimization.
• Work on database upgrades, cleanup and maintenance as far doing them in efficient manner.

Requirements:

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and SQL (excellent ability to write queries, as well as performance tuning).
• You are well-versed in MongoDB and have a strong background in NoSQL.
• Strong knowledge about RDS (AWS RDS / Azure SQL Database etc.).
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL/RDBMS security such as roles, privileges and encryption.
• Solid experience in performance tuning databases, and using indexing and monitoring database tools.
• Experience in backup and DR planning.
• Experience with databases, large database architecture design and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of cloud databases on aws or azure is a plus.
• Knowledge of scripting, such as Python and Bash for automation is an advantage.
